One year ago Monday, March 14, 2011 it was reported that Ragashanti was ordered off air by the Broadcasting Commission following public complaints and reviews of his show aired at the time on Nationwide News Network (NNN).

Well it now appears that Ragashanti is coming back to national radio via BESS 100FM, located in Kingston with a national distribution platform. According to information reaching Businessuiteonline the show is expected to begin airing on Monday April 16th during the 1-5pm time slot.

The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ) had directed the management of Nationwide News Network (NNN) Limited to immediately discontinue transmission of Kingsley ‘Ragashanti’ Stewart’s popular call-in radio programme, ‘Ragashanti Live’.

In an issued statement “The BCJ said it had decided to take action following after receiving numerous public complaints over the last two months and after having conducted its own review of NNN’s programming during the period February 7 to March 2. Transcripts of the offending programming were also supplied to the media.”

Three months later, Dr Kingsley ‘Ragashanti’ Stewart was back with his own Internet-based radio station, Tambareen Radio. In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR Ragashanti said that the online-based radio station is about high energy, music, talk and party.

He explained: “The idea is to reach the wired Jamaican community and the wired community that is affiliated with the Jamaican Diaspora internationally.”

He told THE WEEKEND STAR that the station offers fearless, controversial and entertaining talk programmes such as Morning Rock with BJ the DJ, The Overdrive with DJ Chris Cross and Ricky Redz, Buss It Out with Ragashanti and the Mix Up Family and Seriously Speaking with Michelete and Randy. Other programmes include Anything Goes, Street Beatz and Outa Road, a mix-up programme centered on sex.

From all indications it appears that this did not pan out financially for Raga and LIMETV which broadcasted the programme and it was mutually agreed to end the arrangement.BM
