Glowpoint inks partnership with Columbus Business Solutions

To provide cloud managed video services across Caribbean and Latin America

Glowpoint, Inc., provider of cloud managed video services,  announced a partnership with Columbus Business Solutions to offer cloud hosted video services to businesses and governments throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through a multi-year agreement, Columbus will offer Columbus Cloud Video Conferencing, a fully cloud hosted service for on-demand visual communication that supports calling between virtually any videoconferencing solution including desktop and mobile applications like Cisco Jabber Video. The service leverages Glowpoint’s Virtual Video Room (VVR) offering, which is delivered and supported from the OpenVideo cloud and currently supports over 40,000 registered endpoints worldwide.

“Our partnership with Glowpoint positions us to offer cloud services that will allow our customers to easily adopt video without investing in on-premise infrastructure and support,” stated John Reid, President and Chief Operating Officer of Columbus Communications. “It will also allow our customers to create connected communities of interest and collaborate over video in real-time, whenever they need to. The combination of our extensive, reliable network and the OpenVideo cloud will deliver high quality visual communication experiences that will drive usage of video as an alternative to traveling.”

The Columbus Cloud Video Service will support multi-party videoconferences with virtually any standards based room, desktop, and mobile video solution from Cisco, Polycom, LifeSize, and other leading manufacturers. The service also supports participants on iPhones, iPads, and Android devices, including support for audio only. Users are able to easily dial into meetings using a private, six-digit access code, and share content including PowerPoint presentations and rich media.

“OpenVideo is designed to provide high quality, reliable cloud videoconferencing for the widest range of video solutions, anywhere in the world,” stated Darren Podrabsky, Vice President of Marketing & Channels for Glowpoint.

The Columbus Cloud Video Conferencing service was publicly launched in at an event in Trinidad, and will be available to customers in Latin America and the Caribbean later this summer.

Grace Stockholders To Vote On 3-for-1 Stock Split Today

Shareholders of GraceKennedy Limited will this morning meet to consider and, if thought fit, approve a recommendation for a three-for-one stock split.

If approved, shareholders will receive three stocks for each one that is currently held.

According to group CEO Don Wehby, the stock units with a market price of J$115.00 per stock unit prior to the split will now increase threefold with an initial price of J$38.33 per stock unit

He says the stock split would allow GK’s stock to be made available to more investors while further enhancing the market for the shares.

Ahead of this morning’s Extraordinary General Meeting, GK last week issued 59,360 additional GK shares.

UK Loses S&P Triple A Rating

The UK has lost its top AAA credit rating from ratings agency S&P following the country’s vote to leave the EU.

S&P says the referendum result could lead to “a deterioration of the UK’s economic performance, including its large financial services sector”.

Earlier the pound plunged to a 31-year low against the dollar, and UK markets closed lower for a second day. On Friday,

Moody’s cut the UK’s credit rating outlook to negative.

Caribbean Hotels Named In Jetsetters’ 2016 Best Of The Best

Three Caribbean hotels have been named in US-based travel and lifestyle magazine Jetsetter’s 2016 Best of the Best awards.

The list which was published recently, highlighted the world’s 20 best hotels in categories ranging from Best Over-The-Top Luxury to Best Safari Lodge.

Included in the list were Antigua and Barbuda’s Barbuda Belle Luxury Beach Hotel, Anguilla’s Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa, and St Lucia’s BodyHoliday.
