December Editorial – A YEAR OF 1ST and #1’s

Published

on

Well, this is the final issue for 2008, and to tell the truth, at times, we didn’t think we would possibly make it. But thanks to a core group of supportive advertisers, and the Blackslate team, we were able to publish over 12 regular issues and two special feature issues. In the publishing world these days, that is a feat in itself. Certainly, in addition to celebrating this longevity and consistency, innovation and creativity must be noted as well.

This year we did a number of firsts. Our publishing record over the years has placed us in the “Number 1” position and 2008 cemented our first place stature. We were the first Jamaican magazine to publish ten (10) different covers for one issue of a magazine. This was done for our “Top 10 CEOs” issue where each of the ten CEOs graced their own cover. This was also our most successful issue both in terms of individual retail and subscription sales. Copies of the magazine were sent across the region, quoted on websites and in company magazines as the contents found favour with many.

We repeated the multiple covers presentation with the special “Auto” issue producing individual covers for the “SUV” and “CAR” of the year issues. This issue was also well received and lifted the profile and circulation of the magazine even further.
Multiple covers will now become the standard for these two special annual issues.

For 2009, we will continue our winning ways and improve on what we are doing. We still have a long way to go to fully meet the high standards you have set for us, but we are up to the challenge. With your ongoing support, we can make it, and we will continue to offer business thought, leadership, and best practice information of benefit to all sectors. On behalf of the Blackslate team, I want to thank you and wish for you and your family all the very best that life has to offer.
