Jamaican Teas Launches Sorrel Product Line

Published

on

Come next month, a new sorrel product line will be introduced to the Jamaican market courtesy of Jamaica Teas.

According to CEO, John Mahfood, the company will start the production process for whole dried sorrel, instant sorrel, and instant chocolate with coconut and sea salt later this month.

He says so far, the sorrel product line includes dried sorrel in a stand-up pouch, instant sorrel drink with ginger and sorrel crystal.

Mahfood says he is optimistic about the effect the instant sorrel drink and dried sorrel will have on the export market based on the current level of popularity of the drink with foreigners and locals alike.

“It’s a very popular product in Jamaica and overseas, and normally one only gets sorrel grown for Christmas….Having the whole sorrel dried and ready to drink is something I believe people will want, and then to have the instant sorrel where there is no fussing, no boiling. So it was from that standpoint we thought that those two variants of sorrel would be a good item and will also be good for the export market.”
