First Batch of Locally Brewed Red Stripe To Be Shipped To The US September

Published

on

Come September, the first batch of locally brewed Red Stripe destined for the US Market will be exported.

This move is in keeping with what D&G Managing Director Ricardo Nuncio says is the promise by the local brewery to return production of Red Stripe for the international market to Jamaica.

He says it is also part of the company’s efforts to re-establish Jamaica as the global hub for the Jamaican brand.

Speaking at the D&G Annual General Meeting yesterday, Nuncio indicated that the third party brewing contract with City Brewing in Pennsylvania, which commenced in 2012, will expire come August.

He says at that time, Jamaica will begin its own exports to that market, resulting in an increase in monthly container shipments from 65 to 200.

The Managing Director says this move could also result in the overall creation of approximately 300 extra jobs at Red Stripe, and another 3,000 indirect jobs through spin-off industries, particularly in cassava production.
