The close of records for shareholders of both the Gleaner Company and Radio Jamaica who may attend the Extra Ordinary General Meetings of the companies is set for close of business today.
This relates to both the EGM which will be held on Wednesday as well as the EGM which is set for January 7, should the amalgamation be approved. Shareholders who may have traded after December 21 are being urged to check with their brokers to ensure their name appears on the register.
Meanwhile, in the notice sent to shareholders, Radio Jamaica has indicated that the management of both RJR and the Gleaner Company has presented their respective boards with plans to capture expected pretax synergies of between $275 -$450 million JMD within the first 2-3 years of the transaction.
Earlier this year, at a joint press conference, the boards of both RJR and the Gleaner Company announced the signing of an agreement which, if approved would see a combination of the respective entities. BM
