Format was not quite ready and required more work says producers

TELLTHE TRUTH the new morning drive time radio programme from Blackslate Media Group (BMG) that was set to debut on Monday July 5th has been put back one month and will now debut in August 2010 on BESS100FM.

Following a week of testing and morning dry runs with co host Ian Lyn it was felt that the format was not quite ready and required more work.

“Four hours is a long time to be on air and we have to ensure that what we are putting out can hold an audience for that period of time” commented Aldo, Executive Producer of the show

“Four hours is a long time to be on air and we have to ensure that what we are putting out can hold an audience for that period of time” commented Aldo, Executive Producer of the show. “From our one week of testing we realized that more variety was required in the programme mix, also we must find a female or even another male host to co host with Ian, and so we are looking for that person or even a group of persons, who knows. We also want to look at broadcasting aspects of the programme from oversea if and when Ian Lyn has to travel for example. Ian also runs The Firm Agency and travels quite a bit and so we want to see how we can capitalize on this, especially when he goes into overseas markets in the Diaspora like New York for example. ” He continued.

One of hard truths learnt by Blackslate over the years, as it seeks to develop it various media properties is that media, especially live radio requires a lot of work from the host and producers. As one person, commented to Businessuite for this story,  who was recently approached to work on an evening radio programme. “I tried to do it but it was just too much work, too little money in the early stages and little or no technical support from the radio station, so I had to give it up.”

Lyn’s signing comes on the heel of two other recent acquisitions for Businessuite Radio by Blackslate for their twice weekly evening business programme

Ian Lyn who is no stranger to the Jamaican media community and Jamaicans, for his part remarked that “To tell the truth, no pun intended, the programme format we have is not ready yet, it needs more work and tweaking, the one week I spent testing various formats taught me that it needs to be done in a particular way, I had my own ideas, but nothing beats information from test marketing a new product, so we going to spend more time in the lab, reformulate and launch at a later date.”

Businessuite had confirmed last month that Ian Lyn had signed with Businessuite Radio (www.businessuiteradio.wordpress.com), a division of the Blackslate Media Group Limited (BMG) and would official launch the new drive time morning radio programme TELL THE TRUTH on Monday July 5th 2010 on BESS100FM. Blackslate (www.blackslateholdings.blogspot.com) is the owner and publisher of this website.

TELL THE TRUTH is positioned as a voice for the voiceless, and will be offering programming that is informing, uplifting, educating, engaging while entertaining and getting you ready for the workday. It will be aired islandwide Monday to Thursday 6am – 10am on BESS 100FM and globally on bessfm.com.
