Following on the heels of the presentation on Mobile Money and Internet banking at Caribiztech technology and business conference, Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS) has announced the roll out of its mobile money platform to Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The venture is a joint arrangement with the US-based mobile payment outfit MOBIbucks. The new payment system is a cashless and cardless system that allows persons with any cell phone to have a mobile wallet, allowing them to make regular purchases safely and securely, with the use of their cell phones and a PIN.
The two, should form a formidable team as AIS has significant experience in transaction processing and financial systems. According to the company’s website, it provides transaction processing solutions for the Health Insurance, Hospital Information and medical practice Management, Financial and Hospitality markets. It claims to have processed over four million claims per month and maintained a 99.99% system up-time over the last ten years.
In a statement MOBIbucks Managing Director said “This new mobile payment service launched for the entire world by ADCB (Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank) will change the way people pay for purchases globally.” The group was recently awarded the 2012 Winner of the Best M-Payment Award of the UAE Mobile Show, the largest mobile technology show in the Middle East.
Additional services that AIS will be able to offer through MOBIbucks include sending money to family and friends online or via text message on a mobile phone, adding money virtually or at any participating MOBIbucks merchant location and receiving and sending coupons via text message on a mobile phone.
In a published statement, Douglas Halsall, CEO of Advanced Integrated Systems stated that “we are always looking to integrate ‘best-of-breed’ technologies to better address the needs of Jamaicans. It will revolutionize the economic landscape for Caribbean consumers and facilitate transactions, making their lives easier.”
