MoneyMondays for The latest business, finance and economics news in Jamaica from the country’s leading business journalist, Kalilah Reynolds.
MoneyMoves Advice for businesses seeking growth.
Financial literacy is becoming increasingly important in Jamaica’s changing economic landscape. As more companies go public by listing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, and with the number of Jamaicans investing on the JSE almost quadrupling over the past decade, there’s heightened interest in investing. However, many new and aspiring investors have very limited understanding of the market, investment terms and strategies, or what to look for in a prospectus.
MoneyMondays was started in late March 2019 to address this deficit of information. The mission of the host and producer, Kalilah Reynolds, is to “make business and finance easy to understand”. Originally intended to explain a more diverse array of economic matters such as inflation and GDP, MoneyMondays has since taken a narrower focus on financial literacy about investing, as the demand for that specific information has been very high. Since beginning
MoneyMondays, followers of the host and producer’s Instagram page have grown nearly 70-percent in less than four months. Subscribers to her YouTube channel have grown 175-percent in the same time period, with more followers and subscribers added daily, and engaging with the content.
