Sagicor Group Reporting Reduced EPS of 4.4 US cents – McNamara

The Sagicor Group is reporting a solid performance for the first three months to March 31, 2017, recording increased group net income of US$23.4 million for the period, compared to the prior year result of US$22.3 million.
Stephen McNamara, Chairman of the company, in his report to shareholders indicated that expenses amounted to US$115.1 million, compared to US$101.4 million for the same period in the prior year.
Higher administration costs were incurred as a result of the expansion of cards and payments business, along with the incurrence of some non-recurring costs relating to the Jamaica segment of the business.
The Sagicor Group recorded both lower net income attributable to shareholders of US$13.3 million, compared to the prior year result of US$13.9 million and earnings per share of US 4.4 cents lower than prior year result of US 4.6 cents.BM
