Inter-American Development Bank economist Jeetendra Khadan has indicated that the macroeconomic outlook for Trinidad & Tobago, assuming no significant changes in policies, looks pretty grim.
Commenting further, he said that the role government has played in the economy in the last decade or so, in terms of providing job opportunities, providing subsidies and social programmes targeted at various segments of the population, and support of inefficient public enterprises, just to name a few, can continue no longer. Mr. Khadan made the comments in his keynote presentation at a T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce event last Thursday.BM
